30-Second Film Awards by GYC and UOBAM


Introduction

The competition will start accepting submissions on: 1 June 2025, 10 am. We will stop accepting submissions on 31 Jul 2025, 11:59 pm. Late submissions will not be entertained.

GYC reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, modify, or suspend the contest at any time or reschedule the dates of the competition or extend the competition period.

The decision to terminate or suspend the competition will not give rise to any claim by participants. In the event of termination, the registration fee will be refunded.

Eligibility

30SFA by GYC and UOBAM is open to all locally based creators and companies (where they are a citizen, PR, or tax resident of Singapore). Note that awards will only be granted in person during the award presentation event.

Awards 

There are 3 categories of awards that participants can win. A single entry can win multiple awards, i.e. entries are not limited to a single award. The awards are: 

  • People’s Choice (2,000 SGD) 
    Interactions with the video will be tabulated on all platforms that the video is posted (likes, shares, comments, reactions, etc.) Views are not considered interactions. The film with the most interactions will be selected.

  • Client Favourite (4,000 SGD) 
    The GYC Client base will vote on which stories resonated with them the most. The film with the highest number of votes will be selected.

  • Internal Assessment (8,000 SGD) 
    An internal committee will assess your film in terms of narrative, storytelling, creativity, cinematography, visual quality, etc. The film that most excels in these areas will be selected.

The decisions in judging for the awards is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be entertained. The shortlisted teams will be selected and notified via email and they will be required to acknowledge receipt and attendance of the award ceremony within 7 business days, failing which the teams shortlisted position will be automatically forfeited and given to the next team in line for the shortlist.

Film Specifics

Runtime: The video shall be 30 seconds in content. An additional 3 seconds may be used for credits and acknowledgements. The total video time should not exceed 33 seconds. 

Aspect Ratio: The video should be 9:16 (portrait) for optimal viewing on mobile devices.  

Film Quality: 1080p  (shortlisted candidates will be asked for higher resolutions)

Content and Theme

The content should be inspired by and created based on the theme: Just a Number (?). “A heartwarming story of how an older person, 20 or more years older than you, positively impacted your life. It could be an existing person in your life or someone who has since passed.” 

Any film containing disrespectful, discriminatory, racist, and or any other types of content that are deemed to be inappropriate shall be automatically disqualified. Depending on the seriousness of the offence, the relevant authorities shall be notified, and appropriate legal action will be taken. 

The spirit behind the competition is to tell powerful and real stories, precious and meaningful narratives, frivolous and irreverent submissions will not be tolerated. 

PDPA

Each participant consents GYC may collect, use, and disclose that participant’s personal data for the following purposes:

  1.  to organise, conduct and administer the contest;

  2. to attribute the participant as the creator of the entry;

  3. promotional, marketing, and publicity purposes relating to the contest and GYC in general; and

  4. for any other purposes as may be stated in the terms and conditions.

Personal data that may be collected, use, or disclosed include but are not limited the participant’s name, social media account handles, and profile pictures.

GYC will not disclose any participant’s personal data outside of the above purposes to third parties without first obtaining the participant’s consent, unless such disclosure is required by law or disclosure without consent is permitted under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012.

The participant shall obtain consent of all people depicted in the video prior to the submission of the entry for the collection, use, and disclosure of said people for the purposes of point (3) above. Such consent is required for the entry to be valid in the contest. 

Rights and Ownership 

Originality: By registering for the competition, each team affirms that the film the team's original work and that the team has the necessary rights to submit the application. The participants confirm that the submission does not violate any law or regulation or any rights of any third party.

Foul Play: GYC reserves the right to disqualify any participant in a scenario where we believe that a submission or any part thereof infringes upon or violates the rights of any third party. Participants shall indemnify and hold harmless GYC and their respective officers against any claims or costs relating to a breach of this term.

Intellectual property: The ownership and rights of the video will remain with the creators (except in the case of the 3 winning entries), however by participating, creators grant GYC the right to use the submitted content. Usage of content includes but is not limited to advertising, marketing, branding, outreach, repurposing, and other uses for the business of GYC and UOBAM. The team grants the perpetual and royalty-free right and licence to use any material submitted as a part of their entry. Credit will be given to the creators.

In the case of the 3 winning entries where prize money will be collected, a transfer of intellectual property rights will occur at the event and receipt of the award and cash prize. Documentation to facilitate this will be provided at the event.

Modification: GYC reserves the right to modify the submitted material as necessary, including but not limited to editing, resizing, cropping, or colour adjustment, while maintaining the integrity the submission as originally created.

Registration & Submission

Teams can consist of 1 to 5 people and each team can only submit 1 entry.. Each team who registers for the competition is required to nominate a team leader/representative. They will be the main contact person and all communication between GYC and the team will be through said person by email/telephone/online messaging.

Registration Fee: A registration fee of 100 SGD will be required for each team. The fee will be reduced to 50 SGD for students (school email address must be used for verification).

Particulars and Details: All team members are required to be registered at the registration page. No changes in the team members are allowed after the registration has been entered. Please include everyone’s details.

Each submission must be accurate and complete in all aspects and contain all required information. Incomplete entries will not be entertained. GYC accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected submissions including delays and/or failure of any electronic or telecommunication systems, including but not limited to technical faults and/or network disruptions/congestions. 

The 3 main components for submission are:

  1. Making sure the video is received by our team through the digital form 

  2. Upload, tagging GYC, and including relevant hashtags on social media platforms (ensuring the accounts/handles for the social media platforms have been indicated on the registration form)

  3. Paying the registration fee

(1) The film should be uploaded via the digital form. It should include a write up that introduces your team and the film in no more than 500 words. This will help the committee assess and understand your film better. 

The naming convention for file should follow TeamName_VideoTitle. This is to ensure we can locate and include your film for consideration. 

(2) The film shall be uploaded onto Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. The company GYC shall be tagged and mentioned on the posts / stories (Instagram: gyc.sg. LinkedIn: GYC Financial Advisory. Facebook: GYC Financial Advisory Pte Ltd). 

Interactions (likes, comments, reactions, etc.) on these platforms will be tabulated for the People's Choice Award. Participants are allowed and encouraged to upload them onto other platforms e.g. Tiktok, Youtube. Interactions on those further platforms, although not mandatory, will also count towards the considered for the People’s Choice Awards. Please include all the account details of the platforms that your team plans to upload your video on. This will make sure that your interactions are properly tabulated for consideration. 

It should be uploaded with the hashtags #30secondswithGYC and #30secondswithUOBAM; additional hashtags can be included at the team’s discretion. 

 Please note that even though film is properly registered through the digital form, it will not be considered unless the above upload conditions are met. 

(3) After the form has been received, you will receive a confirmation email where you be given instructions to pay the registration fee.

Post Submission Timeline

From the point that a submission close (31 Jul 2025, 11.59 pm). Assessment and tabulation will take roughly 2 months. Film interactions will be compiled on 31 Aug 2025. To maximise exposure and time for audience interactions, it is recommended that submissions be sent it as early as possible. 

Award Presentation Event 

The event will be held in October 2025; only shortlisted teams will be notified. We regret that we are unable to respond or notify teams with film submissions that are not shortlisted. The top 10 films will be shortlisted. The teams will be invited to an exclusive event that includes public screening that will be covered by the media and get a certificate of honourable mention. 

The 3 prizes, People’s Choice (2,000 SGD), Client Favourite (4,000 SGD), and Internal Assessment (8,000 SGD) will be awarded on that day. It will include the cash amount and a certificate.

GYC reserves the right to change the date of the event without prior notice for any reason at its sole discretion.

Miscellaneous

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, each and every participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless, the organiser, sponsors, their respective officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, loss, damage, or liability suffered and costs incurred, including reasonable legal fees, resulting from any act, neglect, default, or breach by the participant of any of the Terms and Conditions.
